September 2004

International Conference ‘Integrated Management of Natural Resources in the Transboundary Dniester River Basin with presence of 160 participants from Moldova and abroad was organized by Eco-TIRAS in partnership with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Moldova in Chisinau, Moldova, in September 2004. " Russian and English. In parallel with this Conference the Second Eco-Forum ‘Eco-Dniester-2004’ took place. During both events the recommendations on improvement of ecological situation in the Dniester River basin were adopted. The proceedings of conference are published in 1000 copies and reflected on this site. The different elements of the Conference and Eco-Forum were supported by RITA, NED, MRDA/CRDF, MilieuKontakt, Chisinau Mayor Office, The World as Mirror for Moldova Foundation and NGO EcoPolis-Chisinau.

2004 (OSCE-UNECE)

New OSCE/UNECE project on transboundary cooperation on the Dniester River has started. It has the aim to initiate cooperation of two riparian states, Moldova and Ukraine, on the Dniester River environment, with implementation of integrated water basin management principles. 'Eco-TIRAS' and 'Mama-86-Odessa' are two NGOs involved to the project together with ministries of environment, state water management agencies and local authorities of riparian states. 2004 (POPs)

In 2004 Eco-TIRAS in partnership with NGOs-members ‘Doctors for Ecology’, ‘Turunciuc’ and ‘Pelican’ realized the IPEP project, coordinated by Eco-Accord (Moscow) to evaluate situation on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the Lower Dniester Slobodzea Region and to raise public awareness on POPs issue in the Eastern part of Moldova. The brochure on POPs problem was published.
