An opportunity to discuss the draft alternative report on the implementation of the Aarhus Convention by the Republic of Moldova in 2021-2024.
Since 1999, the Republic of Moldova has been a Party to the Aarhus Convention (1998), also known as the Convention on Environmental Democracy. This document is designed to ensure the public's right to information about the environment, the right to participate in environmentally important decision-making, and the right to appeal to the courts to protect the environment and their rights to a healthy environment.
The Convention's highest body is the Meeting of the Parties, which is held periodically, usually once every four years. For each Meeting of the Parties, each Party prepares a report on the implementation of the Convention for the period since the previous Meeting. The Republic of Moldova has prepared and submitted such an official report for 2021-2024. In turn, the Czech NGO Arnika, together with the Moldovan NGO Eco-Tiras, prepared an alternative report, which will also be presented at the Meeting of the Parties in Geneva in November 2025.
